Coco Martin asks Kapampangans’ support for ‘Ang Panday’

KAPAMILYA primetime king Coco Martin took time off from his busy schedule on Tuesday to invite Kapampangans to view his upcoming movie “Ang Panday,” an official entry for the 43rd Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

Martin, together with co-actors Shantel Crislyn Layh "Ligaya" Ngujo, Benj Manalo, Smugglaz and Bassilyo, personally visited the Laus Group-run CLTV-36 and DWRW 95.1 to ask the support of Kapampangans for the all-Filipino team.

The group also held a motorcade in the City of San Fernando at 2:00 p.m. and Angeles City at 4:00 p.m. yesterday to further promote the film which is based on the classic Filipino story “Panday” of Carlo J. Caparas.

“Iniimbitahan po namin ang mga kabalen na suportahan ang aming pelikula “Ang Panday,” showing na po sa kapaskuhan sa lahat po ng sinehan dito sa Pampanga at sa buong bansa,” Martin said, adding his invitation for Kapampangans to support all Filipino films showing under MMFF 2017.

Martin, who will play the lead role Flavio Batungbakal III, will be joined by powerhouse cast Jake Cuenca, Gloria Romero, Jaime Fabregas, Awra Briguela, Julio Diaz, Elise Joson, McCoy de Leon and others.

In the film, Batungbakal is the grandson of the original blacksmith known as Panday (formerly played by the late Fernando Poe Jr.) born in the urban ghetto of Tondo. He is a tough gang leader but “soft” when it comes to his grandmother and family which is his priority.

During the course of his adventure to save humanity, Batungbakal will be facing different villains -- from humans and to supernatural beings -- including his immortal nemesis Lizardo (Cuenca) who comes back from the world of darkness to once again bring havoc to the human race.

But aside from playing the lead role, Martin is also the producer and co-director of the film, which serves as his directorial debut.

“Ang Panday” will be showing from December 25 in more than 300 cinemas nationwide, along with Gandarapiddo: The Revenger Squad, All of You, Meant to Beh, Deadma Walking, Haunted Forest, Ang Larawan and Siargao.
