Compostela Valley guv, team finish Ironman in Thailand

COMPOSTELA Valley Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy and company finished the Ironman 70.3 Thailand relay that was held recently in Phuket, Thailand.

Uy, who teamed up with Charles Carpio and Herman Yap, donning the Actibo Trivengers colors, finished the 1.9-kilometer swim, 90-km bike and 21.1-km bike course in eight hours to finish the triathlon race that lured some 1,600 participants across the globe.

Uy swam the Laguna Phuket beach, while Carpio rode the Lagoon Road inside Laguna Phuket.

Yap, for his part, ran the two-loop run course around Laguna Phuket.

"It was a fun new experience since first time ko mag ironman overseas. It was great," said Uy, who had been joining local triathlon races in the

previous years.

Uy and company, however, gear up for another grueling race on March 25 next year as they already signed-up in relay event of the upcoming Alveo Ironman in Davao City.

Meantime, Uy said his indulgence to sports and active lifestyle is a way to entice the youth to replicate as his government mainly focuses on the children.

"Unang-una, ang center sa akong government kay ang youth or children as we believe that they are the future," said Uy.

He, meanwhile, said that they mainly focused on the youth's holistic development, pertaining to academics, sports, creativity, and innovation.

"Part din sa holistic development is yung education. Gusto namo ang mga bata namo sa Comval kay makakat-on mag-innovate, especially we are on a high-tech generation, so we want them to access that," Uy said.

Apart from a children-centered government, Uy's governance also promotes physical fitness and wellness among the people of Compostela Valley as well as holistic development of the drug reformists in his province. (ABM)
