Consolacion cops feed 90 street kids

r

rFOR the seventh time, the police personnel of Consolacion, Cebu reached out to street children on Wednesday afternoon, April 11.

They fed 90 kids, who also enjoyed parlor games held in Barangay Poblacion Oriental. Each child received a pair of slippers.

Chief Inspector Gerard Ace Pelare, the town police commander, said the activity -- dubbed Police and Partners Acts of Kindness for Consolacion Kids (Packs) -- was sponsored by Consolacionanon Original Inc., a charitable group.

Last April 4, the same group shouldered the expenses for the Packs activity. The group's board chairman, Edna Malagar Pelin, flew in from the United States and joined the activity.

Pelare, in a press statement, said the group helped the police, who aim to make the "neighborhoods and homes in Consolacion safer and reduce the potentials of less fortunate and marginalized children from becoming victims."

"Sharing our fortune is sharing our time and energy, our passion and commitment," he said.

The Packs is Pelare's brainchild. It was launched on February this year.

Pelare said he desires to have a more sustainable anti-crime program, which he said should start with a child, who will be a problem in the future if neglected. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
