Construction of Victorias City Hall set

VICTORIAS City Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca said Wednesday the construction of the new city hall will start early next year on a portion of the 25-hectare growth center to be called Victorias Green Business Park along Osmeña Avenue.

The mayor said the City Government availed a loan of P300 million to build a solar-powered city hall in front of the Victorias City Coliseum.

The area will be environment-friendly and will house new businesses as well as the Memphis Mission of Mercy Surgery Center.

The old city hall will be transformed into a major tourism center to be called 1938 Victorias Municipal Hall, Hotel and Museum.

It will serve as an income generating center for the city, Palanca said.

He said that he likes the new City Hall of Himamaylan which is worth emulating.

The present city hall houses more than 700 employees, making it too crowded, Palanca added.
