A POLICEMAN and a tricycle driver were injured after the latter resisted arrest in a checkpoint at Hermilinda Homes in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City on Thursday.

Senior Inspector Ramel Sarona, head of Police Station 7, said they flagged down a tricycle driven by 43-year-old Philip Olac during the conduct of their “Oplan Sita,” and when he did not stop, police officers on board a patrol car chased him.

During the chase, Olac was reportedly speeding that caused the tricycle to turn turtle. He sustained minor injuries.

When policemen cornered him, he fought Police Officer 2 Gerwin Catolico, hurting the latter in the process.

Sarona said charges for resisting arrest and direct assault to an agent of person in authority were already filed against Olac, who is detained at the station.

He added that Olac also has traffic violations such as no driver’s license, no OR/CR of a tricycle, and his vehicle was also considered a “colorum” or unregistered.
