Cop who hit drunk to death dismissed

A NON-COMMISSIONED officer previously assigned at Escalante City Police Station was ordered dismissed for misconduct due to the death of a drunk man whom he assaulted in front of the station in June last year.

Senior Superintendent William Señoron, acting director of Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (Nocppo), said over Bombo Radyo Bacolod Wednesday that the dismissal order for Police Officer 1 Leopoldo Delloso was recently issued by the National Police Commission (Napolcom).

Delloso was tagged in the death of Jason Brinquez, who died of internal hemorrhage two days after he was involved in a commotion with the policeman.

Brinquez attempted to hack Delloso and take his firearm while creating alarm and scandal, prompting the police officer to punch him in the stomach.

The following day, Delloso was disarmed and relieved from his post. He was then transferred to Nocppo headquarters.

They have yet to determine if criminal charges will also be filed against Delloso. (GYM)
