Cordillera police seize P8.7-B illegal drugs

CAMP BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet –- The commitment to duty of Police Regional Office(PRO)-Cordillera with the active support of the community resulted to the confiscation of P8.7 billion worth of illegal drugs.

Covering the period from July to December 8, PRO-Cordillera has eradicated and confiscated illegal drugs amounting to P6.8 billion. These are fully grown marijuana plants, seedlings, stalks, seeds, leaves, bricks and hashish. Most of the marijuana was eradicated in the far-flung municipality of Tinglayan in Kalinga.

Methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, worth P3 million were seized and confiscated from the different places in the region.

Another notable accomplishment was the recovery and confiscation of P1.9 billion worth of 14 containers of chloroform or ether chemicals in Barangay Malekkeg, Sta. Marcela Apayao.

PRO-Cordillera Regional Dierctor Elmo Sarona directed all police units in the region to maintain the momentum in the implementation of Project Double Barrel Alpha.

Sarona stressed out every police will not stop in conducting extensive police operations until all villages in the region were all cleared.

Authorities arrested four drug users and pushers Wednesday, December 7, in separate police operations.

Police arrested two drug users identified as Jonjon Revira Castilla, aka “Jamer,” 25, of Balsigan, and Jhonny Villaria Ferrer, 22, of Kayang Hilltop, both from Baguio City while having a pot session inside D’ Winers Videoke Bar at Kayang Hilltop, Baguio City.

Seven heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia’s were seized.

In Kalinga, drug dealer identified as Jenston Talay Gayawet, aka “Tonton,” 27, of Bulanao, Tabuk City was also arrested in a drug bust in the night of the same day in Kalinga. One sachet of suspected shabu and a drug bust money amounting to P1,000 were seized police.

In Abra, a drug keeper identified as Raphy Bondame Reballos was locked-up in jail after the police seized prohibited drugs in his residence in Nangaycayan, Zone 7, Bangued, Abra by virtue of a search warrant issued by Judge Raphiel Alzate of RTC Branch 1, Bangued, Abra.

Four opened plastic transparent sachets containing suspected shabu residues, assorted drug paraphernalia’s and cash amounting to P1,570 was confiscated by the police.

With the arrest, Sarona extended his gratitude to the police officers as well as the members of the community, who has the great contribution in the success of the operations, for a job well done. (PR)
