Council still awaiting advise for Christmas bonus

Published on:

THE Davao City Council is still waiting for the go-signal from City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio whether there will be Christmas bonus for city government employees.

Committee on finance, ways and means, and appropriations chairman Danilo Dayanghirang said until now the Council is still waiting for the official transmittal on the matter.

"We leave it to the mayor. We will know it soon. As of now, no idea. We are still closing the book of accounts. We are waiting whether may bonus or wala," Dayanghirang said.

Dayanghirang said he is confident that the mayor is very kind and concerned about the employees' benefit.

City Government employees usually receive their Christmas bonus between December 16 and 23.

Last year, each regular employee received P10,000 bonus while those in job orders, contract of services and technical advisers received P5,000, and P2,000 for barangay health worker, barangay nutrition scholars and auxiliary personnel.

The funding for last year's bonus was sourced from the P182-million supplemental budget 4 (SB4), which was passed on third and final reading as early as December 4, 2015.

Meanwhile, the P6.9-billion budget for 2017 was passed on third and final reading during the regular session Tuesday.

Dayanghirang said the budget has already raised to P7 billion.
