Council supports DCPO expansion

THE Davao City Council approved a resolution pushing for an endorsement of the proposal of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) to the National Police Commission (Napolcom) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to expand its structure and organization and improve the security of the city amid economic development and population spike.

“Para po sa inyung kaalaman, yong atin pong resolution po ni Honorable Councilor Mabel Acosta was favorably approved by the majority of our Sangguniang Panlungsod (Council) for the expansion of Davao City Police Office (DCPO),” Tagum said.

Tagum likewise expressed his gratitude to the lawmakers for their support which is intended for the general welfare of the Dabawenyos in order to deter crimes.

The DCPO proposed the creation of four additional police stations. It targets to break into two the Sta. Ana, San Pedro, Talomo, and Buhangin Police Stations as the areas already have a sprawling commercial landscape and experienced rapid urbanization.

“Because of the rapidly expanding population growth and economic structure in the area which demands for additional manpower,” Tagum said.

They have already identified the locations where these police stations will be put up, however, Tagum said that they are seeking for the approval of the barangay officials for the land to be used.

Aside from the police station, the DCPO also requested for the additional 1,700 policemen.

“Similar to the benefit that was derive by Davao City from Oplan Iron City sa additional support provided by Police Auxiliary which is only minimal, which is 900, how much more yong nire-request natin na 1,700. Then that will have a double effect sa peace and order ng Davao City,” he said.
