BACOLOD City Councilor Renecito Novero pushed for the inclusion of the Emergency Cost of Living Allowance (Ecola) of public senior high school principals and teachers in the provision of the 2017 supplemental budget as the General Fund may allow.
Novero, chairperson of committee on education, stated in the approved resolution that the Ecola for public senior high school teachers were not included in the 2017 budgetary allocation prepared in 2016.
“In fairness to them, our public senior high school teachers should likewise be accorded with Ecola, which will be taken from the General Fund, like all the other public junior high school teachers in Bacolod,” he added.
Novero said the allocation of Ecola for public school teachers from the General Fund is permitted under RA 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code.
