Couple arrested after selling shabu

A WOMAN and her 18-year-old partner allegedly engaged in the illegal drugs trade were arrested in a drug bust by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Cordillera region.

Following several complaints from residents, the couple was collared for selling methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, worth P4,000 to an undercover agent February 9 in a sting operation in Barangay Quirino Hill, Baguio City.

Confiscated from the suspects are six heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, the buy-bust money and several drug paraphernalia.

Both are now detained at the Baguio City Jail and will be charged for violating Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia) of Republic Act Number 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

PDEA-Cordillera public information officer Joseph Calulut said the sting operation is an example of the collaborative efforts being done by their agency and the Philippine National Police in the city as part of the government's renewed efforts against illegal drugs.
