Court in Davao has new judge after 2 years of vacancy

THE Regional Trial Court Branch 14 finally has a judge of its own in the person of Jill Rose Jaugan Lo after two years of not having a presiding judge.

Lo was previously assigned at the Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) Branch 4.

Lo took her oath as judge last week, along with the acting judge Loida Kahulugan, who is originally assigned at the Regional Trial Court Branch 21, Davao del Sur.

Since 2014, the position of the presiding judge was vacant after now Regional Prosecutor Janet Grace Fabrero turned down the post.

Executive Judge Emmanuel Carpio, however, said that Judge Lo is still undergoing immersion in the court and will only officially be on duty after her attendance in the Seminar of the Newly Appointed Judges.

The three other branches: 22, 12, and, 15 do not have a presiding judge assigned.

Carpio added that all assigned judges undergo screening process conducted by the Judicial Bar Council.
