Crossfit Madayaw Battle of the strongest unfolds

ALL systems go for the staging of the Visit Davao Fun Sale (VDFS) in partnership with CrossFit Madayaw-backed Mindanao's first National CrossFit Competition dubbed as "Tempra's Battle of the Strongest" that kicks off today at the Matina Town Square (MTS) in Davao City.

CrossFit Madayaw coach Catalino Diaz Jr., who is also the first coach of Rio Olympics weightlifting silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz, in Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum held at The Annex of SM City Davao, said they've been very busy preparing for the big event sponsored by the Department of Tourism (DOT)-Davao Region.

A total of 79 CrossFit entries from around the country will test their endurance and stamina to be hailed as the first Tempra's Battle of the Strongest title-holder.

Participants will battle in four workout sets in male RX, male scaled, female RX and female scaled divisions.

CrossFit Madayaw president Earvin Joshua Go, in a previous conversation, said the equipment for the event that came all the way from America, arrived on Monday.

Go also bared that they set up the venue and coordinated with the Davao City Police Station and Task Force Davao to tighten the security.

Champ Te, Bianca Ferrel and Joseph Mangulabnan of CrossFit Madayaw and Nicho Mauricio and Eza Chua of CrossFit Cranium will be Davao City’s top bets in the event also supported by the city government of Davao, AirAsia, Bonamine, BPI Cards, Tanduay, Cebu Pacific and HappyFit.
