Crossfit Subtero nails point vs. Hykos, 71-48

CROSSFIT Subtero 2009 solidified its hold of the top spot following a 71-48 win over Hykos 2013 in the Division C competition of the 22nd Sacred Heart-Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (Shaabaa) Basketball tournament last Sunday at the SHS-AdC Canduman, Mandaue City Campus.

Trailing by three points at the end of the first quarter, Crossfit roared to life in the second half, starting with a 31-8 binge, to turn a close first half game to a 56-34 lead entering the final quarter.

Batch 2009 never looked back from there to keep one full game ahead with its 8-1 win-loss slate over defending champions 2007 Petron Global Carrier and 2015 Peoples General who both had 7-2 win-loss records.

Gaisano Capital, meanwhile, punctuated its elimination round campaign with a 119-91 win over Harley Davidson Motorcycles in the Division A competition.

Mavi Suarez and Bbert Gilo had a double-double performance to help Gaisano finish the triple round robin elimination round with a decent 5-4 win-loss card.

Suarez had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Gilo finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds as five other Gaisano Capital players scored in double-digit with Niño Araw-Araw and Anton Solon finishing with 10 points each, Jeremy Nacua scoring 11 points and Patrick Go and Alphonsus Doyon finishing with 10 points each.

Eldie Cabahug scored the game-high 30 points and Travis Mantua and Jair Igna contributed 13 points each as Harley Davidson dropped to 7-2.

The Cebu Landmasters, meanwhile, defeated the SHS-AdC Magis Eagles Team B anew 87-73 to score its sixth win in nine games while handing the youthful opponents its ninth straight defeat.

Batch 2001 Dynacast secured its ninth straight win to gain share in the leadership of Division B following a 75-62 win against the 2002 San Remegio Properties.

Carlo Villarica dominated the match as he scattered 22 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead all scorers and rebounds that helped Dynacast enjoy a half a game ahead over another unbeaten team 1990-1991 Kogi-Q while the loss dropped San Remegio’s record to 5-4. (RCM)
