Davao City netters rule

MATI CITY, Davao Oriental -- The Davao City Durians ruled the Davao Regional Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet 2017 secondary boys and girls' tennis competition at the Mati City tennis court here Friday, March 24.

The pair of Lourderns Pacheco and Lawrence Colina defeated the Cero twins of Tagum City Tagumpay, 8-6, in their secondary boys' doubles finals match.

Danna Abad and Winona Cabardo also combined forces to clinch the secondary girls' gold medal after beating hometown bets Mary Jane Bestes and Maria Teresa Beste, 8-4.

The pairs of Pacheco-Colina and Abad-Cabardo, thus, earned spots to the Palarong Pambansa slated April 23 to 29 in Antique.

Dabawenya Patricia Velez outclassed teammate Nicole Ann Bautista, 9-7, to bring home the secondary girls singles gold. Both players will also compete in the Palaro.

Stephen Tubbs of Davao City, for his part, bowed to Jyle Cyrin Martinez of Digos City, 7-9, to settle for silver in secondary boys’ singles.
