DAVAO Region recorded an employment rate of 94.1 percent as of January 2017 based on the recent Labor Force Survey (LFS) that was released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
Data gathered from PSA also showed that Davao Region's unemployment rate is at 5.9 percent while the underemployment rate is at 14.6 percent. The region's labor force participation was at 61.7 percent.
Meanwhile, for the whole of Mindanao, Soccsksargen and the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (Armm) recorded the highest employment rate in the island group at 95.7 percent. Both regions also have the highest employment rate in the whole country.
Zamboanga Peninsula has the second highest employment rate in Mindanao at 95.4 percent, followed by Northern Mindanao (94.5 percent), Davao Region, and Caraga (91.5 percent).
Caraga recorded the highest unemployment rate in Mindanao at 8.5 percent, followed by Davao Region, Northern Mindanao (5.5 percent), Zamboanga Peninsula (4.6 percent), and Soccsksargen and Armm with 4.3 percent each.
In terms of underemployment rate, Armm recorded the lowest at 7.3 percent, followed by Davao Region, Zamboanga Peninsula (15.4 percent), Northern Mindanao and Caraga with 18.9% each, and Soccsksargen (21.3 percent).
According to the January 2017 LFS, the country's employment rate is at 93.4 percent while the unemployment and underemployment rates are at 6.6 percent and 16.3 percent, respectively.
Trailing behind Soccsksargen and Armm in terms of high employment rate are Zamboanga Peninsula, Central Visayas (95.4 percent), and Cagayan Valley (95 percent).
In terms of unemployment rate, Ilocos Region holds the top spot with 8.7 percent, followed by Caraga, National Capital Region (8.5 percent), Calabarzon (8.2 percent), and Mimaropa (6.9 percent).
As for underemployment, Armm has the lowest, followed by NCR (11.9 percent), Davao Region, Calabarzon (14.8 percent), and Zamboanga Peninsula.
