Davao to start issuing citation tickets in September

THE plan of the Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) to issue citation tickets to violators of the Anti-Jaywalking ordinance starting September will push through.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio urged the cooperation of the public to adhere to the said ordinance.

"Magpadayon ang plano nga mag issue na ug citation ticket (The plan of on the issuance of citation ticket will continue). Let us just support our city traffic and management office,” Duterte-Carpio told reporters during the Task Force Davao Change of Command Ceremony on Wednesday, August 30.

She said CTTMO sought for her approval to begin with their information drive to the public.

Duterte-Carpio said after the implementation of citation ticket, she will review it and find out if it generated positive impact or the other way around.

"Let's reassess after a month kung nakatabang ba ni or wala (Let's reassess if this is useful or not)," she said.

The initiative aims to intensify the implementation of traffic rules and regulations of the city and minimize pedestrian accidents and traffic congestion as well as strengthen the provisions of the City Ordinance 778 also known as the Comprehensive Transport and Traffic Code of Davao City.

The violators will directly pay their fine at the City Treasurer's Office, which is P100 on the first offense plus four hours of community service to be facilitated by the Davao City Social Services and Development Office.

The implementation of the Anti-Jaywalking Ordinance was implemented on December 1, 2016. Since then, violators were invited at the CTTMO office for orientation.
