Davao's most wanted nabbed

POLICE arrested on Friday one of the most wanted persons in Davao Region in a pursuit operation in Barangay Dacudao, Calinan District in Davao City.

Combined elements of the Calinan police and the Army's 84th Infantry Battalion arrested the suspect identified as Roberto Castillote, 44, a suspected member of the New People's Army (NPA) and a resident of Sibulan, Sta. Cruz in Davao del Sur. He has several aliases - Ka Marquez, Ka Marvin, and Ka Enoy.

Records obtained from Davao City Police Office (DCPO) showed that the suspect was arrested at Purok 8 at around 12 noon, after Army soldiers spotted him earlier in the area. The soldiers then contacted the Calinan police.

Castillote was found in possession of a wallet containing P42,500 cash and a Nokia brand cellular phone. He was detained at the Calinan Police Station but was transferred to Davao City Police Office jail facility on Saturday morning.

Authorities arrested Castillote following the warrant of arrests issued by Judge Loida Posadas-Kahulugan of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 12 in Bansalan town and Judge Carmelita Sarno Davin of RTC Branch 18 in Digos City.

Castillote also has a pending warrant of arrests issued by Judge Emmanuel Carpio of RTC Branch 16 in Davao City and Presiding Judge Albert Axalan of RTC Branch 20 in Digos City dated March 7, 2014.

The suspect was earlier charged with several cases, such as arson, robbery with violence or intimidations of person, murder, serious illegal detention and murder with frustrated murder in areas in Davao del Sur and Davao City.

Castillote was also tagged in killing a barangay chieftain in Cadalian in Baguio District in September 2013. The victim was identified as Alex I. Angco, 56, of Purok 5 in Barangay Cadalian. The victim was shot while he was at his breeding farm. (ICT)
