DBP board chairman graces Banwahanon rites in Bacolod

FORMER Senator Alberto Romulo, now chairman of the board of the Development Bank of the Philippines, will be the guest of honor and speaker at the Ang Banwahanon Awards Night around 6 p.m. at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) Lobby on Saturday, June 17, 6 p.m.

Romulo, a former executive secretary, finance secretary, foreign affairs secretary, and budget secretary, is also an adopted son of Bacolod.

When he was senator, he was declared as the adopted son of Bacolod on April 4, 1990 for being “very responsive, receptive, accommodating, and facilitative to the needs of the people of Bacolod City and Negros Occidental,” as stated in Resolution 117 series of 1990 of the City Council.

Ang Banwahanon is the highest award that the Bacolod City government bestows on its citizens in recognition of their works and achievements which made a great impact to the community.

Four Bacoleños will become recipients of the Ang Banwahanon Award this year.

The Ang Banwahanon Awards Committee is chaired by George Zulueta, with Maria Rosario Sola as vice chairman, Doctor Ma. Johanna Ann Bayoneta, Ian Lo, Doctor Hector Gayares, and Franklin Fuentebella as members.

The City Government will also award the Outstanding Taxpayers and Outstanding Employees during the Commemoration of the 79th Year of the Signing of the Charter of Bacolod City on Sunday at the BCGC Lobby starting 9 a.m.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia will also award the Mayor’s Special Citations.
