DCCCII elects Milan as new president

AS THE year is about to end and as they are to celebrate their 50th founding anniversary by next year, the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII) has chosen Arturo Milan as its new president.

"I am taking over the Davao Chamber, which has achieved a lot this year under the able leadership of President Ronnie Go, so this is really a big challenge for me, especially next year, as we celebrate our 50th Founding Anniversary. I would like to see the Davao Chamber to continue working closely with the Davao City Government," Milan told Sunstar Davao through a phone interview.

He added the partnership would be on investment promotion, especially in manufacturing, tourism, and agriculture to create more jobs for the Dabawenyos, as well as the promotion of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The partnership, he said, will also help improve the infrastructure of Davao City, as well as of the region and to create a business environment conducive to growth and development.

For this year, Milan chaired the 4th Davao Investment Conference (Icon) 2017, which ran from July 21 to 22 and was noted to be the biggest yet.

The entire conference recorded at least 500 local and foreign delegates.

During the Icon, Milan said one of the highlights was the 12 groups that had their business to business matching simultaneous to the conference going on in the plenary hall. Aside from that, the conference also became the venue for AirAsia's official launching of the Davao-Kuala Lumpur direct flight.

Just this October 19, the DCCCII bagged the Hall of Fame Award for being the most outstanding city-based chamber in the Philippines for three consecutive years. The award was given during the 43rd Philippine Business Conference and Expo at Manila Hotel.
