De Leon: What we can grab from May-Mac showdown

RECENTLY, the world has seen the mega-bout between two of sports’ most powerful figures in Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Conor McGregor, which demonstrated a lot of hateful back and forth and media coverage.

But what on God’s green garth can we, millennials and millennials by heart, can learn from these two seemingly super-egotistical fighters?

These hyper-celebrities did far more than what we already know. They took their rock star existence to greater heights by reminding the world who they really are.

Regardless if it's training, fighting, trash-talking, they never fell out of their lanes and made sure the world knows about it.

Whether we like it or not, we are living in a world where human connection plays a large role on how successful we become.

Thus, regardless if you're managing your own business, your career or your activities in school, it is your right and duty to be noticed and take credit for your achievements.

It does not matter if you're insanely good at something, you won’t be able to make the biggest impact possible, if no one knows about you. It is a lot like finding water in a desert but no one else is around to tell.

Remember, there are people out there who will try to grab the credits you own. They will always claim that it was their effort, their own set of slides, or their own reports.

Thus, you have to manage the politics by increasing your presence in every meeting, e-mails, activities and in those "So, what are you busy with?" chitchats.

You don't need to brag like a peacock spreading its feathers but people need to know at least what you're up to.

As they say, actions speak louder than words but actions also speak louder with words.

Don't be embarrassed about wanting a share of that stage, because you deserve to be recognized. You deserve to be praised, if you've chased down the belt.
