Demolition under Bolton Bridge all voluntarily done

Published on:

THE Davao City Engineer's Office (CEO) will no longer conduct a city-led demolition under Bolton Bridge since the voluntary demolition by residents is almost done.

Davao City Engineer's Office officer-in-charge Joseph Dominic Felizarta said there won't be a need for them to conduct demolition since most of the structures were already removed from the area.

Felizarta said his men are still monitoring the area as the voluntary demolition continues.

He added that the City is also now conducting "Balik Probinsya" program to deliver the belongings of displaced families to their original homes.

He mentioned that most of the residents are not originally from Davao City but they have relatives within Davao Region. Some also live in far-flung barangays within the city.

Felizarta said today, one of their trucks will go to Panabo to deliver belongings of some of the residents.

He said they started the Balik Probinsya program last week. One of their trucks has already been to Calinan in Davao City, Digos City in Davao del Sur, and Kapalong in Davao del Norte to help the residents.

Felizarta added that there is no more need to demolish houses in the danger zones located in Bankerohan, as majority of these houses have already been destroyed by the swollen Davao River during Typhoon Vinta last December.
