THE Department of Education (DepEd) is planning to conduct drug test for some 5,500 public elementary and high school teachers in Cebu City, DepEd Cebu City head Bianito Dagatan said.
Cebu City Councilor Joy Augustus Young said a committee will be formed to oversee the drug testing, which is mandated by the DepEd national office.
Cebu City Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (Cosap) Chief Garry Lao said they will conduct the drug test once they have the list of teachers from the education department.
On June 23, a surprise drug test administered by Cosap was conducted on DepEd Cebu City personnel.
Among those who took the test were education program supervisors, district supervisors, division coordinators, principals and head and officers-in-charge of public schools. (SunStar Cebu)
