DepEd's 'Brigada Eskwela' kicks-off in Pampanga

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Education (DepEd) kicked–off Monday, May 15, the weeklong “Brigada Eskwela” in different public schools in Pampanga.

School Superintendent Leonardo Ding Zapanta of the DepEd Division of Pampanga said different organizations, government agencies, and non-government organization and parents at San Pablo High School in Barangay San Pablo II, Lubao town participated in the annual school activity.

The materials and equipment used in the Brigada Eskwela came from donations of parents like cleaning and decorating materials.

The parents will paint the rooms, repair broken chairs and clean the surroundings, Zapanta said.

He added that barangay officials donated school supplies for grade 1 and kinder pupils while the municipal police gave guidelines on what to do if an earthquake occurs.

Asked if they will allow drug surrenderees to participate in the Brigada Eskwela, Zapanta said, “it’s okay that the drug surrenderees help in Brigada Eskwela, but the police should be on guard to ensure the safety of the children who joined the Brigada”.

A total of 350,000 students from Kinder to Grade 12 are expected to enrol this school year in the province.

Enrolment is scheduled next week and the classes are set to begin on June 5. (PR)
