DIBL semifinals set on Sunday

THE Davao Inter-BPO League (DIBL) is down to its final four as semi-final games is set on Sunday at the Montaña Recreational and Fitness Center along Dacudao Avenue in Agdao, Davao City.

DIBL commissioner Mark de Guzman bared this in Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum held at The Annex of SM City Davao on Thursday, June 29.

"We have two remaining Sundays left before matapos ang DIBL basketball and paganda ng paganda ang mga laro," de Guzman said.

Defending champion Teleperformance (TP) will collide with Offsourcing Philippines (OS) while VXI Robinsons and VXI SM will clash against each other in the other semifinals match of the cagefest officiated by Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP).

TP player Lou Gracilla, 2016 most valuable player, said they are confident to win their semifinals game, adding that they will defend the title behind a new system laid by coach Peter Epe.

Mark Saavedra of OS, however, downplayed their chances as TP has the edge in size and experience but will try to compensate it with their speed.

"We will try to maximize our advantage since our entire goal is to become the champion, we will just give them a good game," Saavedra said.

BJ Javier of VXI Robinsons, meanwhile, said they will just enjoy the game.

"We look at it as a healthy competition. We all know that both teams are great but we will just gonna play our game," Javier said.

Cyril Almario of VXI SM, for his part, said they started the league slow but happy they were able to gel.

He also said, "We are looking at the bright side and we are happy that for sure one team of VXI will enter the finals."
