Dishonesty rap filed v. traffic officer

CEBU City Mayor Tomas Osmeña filed a complaint of dishonesty against a traffic officer who was found to have been driving for Uber during office hours.

The traffic officer has already resigned after the City’s Human Resource (HR) Office held a clarificatory conference with him on Tuesday.

The HR Office investigated the matter after receiving information about the officer’s allegedly moonlighting activity.

He reportedly admitted that he logged in for work but he was giving services to Uber instead.

Despite his resignation, Osmeña said that he decided to file the complaint since the traffic officer was a regular employee of Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO).

However, because of his resignation, the penalty of termination that will be imposed on him will be rendered useless. He will also get his financial benefits for his 19 years of service.

“We are aware that he has a sideline but we didn’t expect that it would conflict his office duties,” said Francisco Ouano, executive assistant of CCTO, when sought for comment. (Jaziel Calumpag, USC Intern)
