Disqualification raps vs Arroyo mulled

BAYAN Muna is now eying to file disqualification case against Pampanga Representative Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo as the first nominee of “Ang Galing Pilipino Partly List” for the May 2010 elections.

Bayan Muna Representative Ted Casiño said that on Friday or maybe next week, they will file a disqualification case against Arroyo, “because we want to save the integrity of the party list system.”

Casiño noted that Arroyo claimed that he was chosen as the first nominee of Ang Galing Pilipino party-list representing the security guards, small micro-businesses.

Casiño was in Bacolod on Wednesday to meet with City Mayor Evelio Leonardia at the New Government Center.

“Our worst fears have been confirmed that the traditional politicians and the political dynasties are now taking over the party list system,” Casiño said.

He explained that the party-list system should be reserved for the representatives of the poor and the under-marginalized sectors in the country, “but now, we have an incumbent congressman, a son of the president, and four of his relatives are also running for congress include President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Datu Arroyo, Iggy Arroyo and Marilou Arroyo, and yet he’s also running for congress under the party list system.”

“How can an incumbent congressman considered as marginalized, which he could run for another term on his district, but he give it to his mother. He’s not just a rich person but a multi-millionaire,” he added. (MAP)
