BOXERS from Murcia and E.B. Magalona towns and cities of Victorias, Silay and Talisay ruled the 8th Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. Boxing Championship held recently at Sagay City gym.
The champions from District 3 garnered a total of seven gold, five silver, and eight bronze medals followed by first runner-up District 6 of Cauayan, Hinobaan, Candoni, Kabankalan and Sipalay cities with six gold, six silver, and nine bronze medals.
District 4, composed of Bago City, Pulupandan, Valladolid, La Carlota City, San Enrique and Pontevedra, settled for second runner-up.
Rodel Gamo of Bago City was adjudged Best Boxer of the tournament after his win against Lorenz John Torela of Sipalay City via unanimous decision in 42 kilograms of Youth/Junior Boys category.
Sagay City Mayor Alfredo Marañon III led the awarding of winners together with Vice Mayor Narciso Javelosa, Philippine Sports Commission Director for Western Visayas Art Puentevella and Provincial Sports Coordinator Angel Verdeflor. (HGD)
