Doctors review increase in NegOcc dengue deaths

THE Provincial Dengue Control Team, composed of doctors from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) and Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital, has started to review the high dengue mortality in Negros Occidental this year.

Figures of PHO showed 32 Negrenses have died of dengue from January to October this year.

In terms of cases, this year has more dengue cases compared to last year.

Dr. Jessica Fama, medical specialist II, said the doctors would like to know why such deaths happened.

“We would like to determine why such deaths happened. Is it due to inadequate hospital care or patients could have been in critical conditions when brought to the hospitals,” she said.

Fama added that while prevention is important, early management is also the key to avoid death.
