DOJ ends probe on Jee Ick-joo kidnap-slay

AFTER receiving the counter-affidavit of Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) officer Police Superintendent Allan Macapagal, the Department of Justice (DOJ) concluded Friday its probe on the abduction and killing of South Korean national Jee Ick-joo.

Macapagal's affidavit detailed the January 18 raid in Gream funeral parlor where the raiding team allegedly found a golf set supposedly owned by Jee.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), which also conducted its own probe on the case, earlier said the golf set was planted as according to the staff of the crematorium, they did not see it when operatives brought Jee's body on October 18.

Macapagal in his reply affidavit said the complaint for obstruction of justice filed against him by the NBI must be junked as he was just "doing his job." He also reiterated that a golf set was indeed found in the funeral parlor.

The DOJ is expected to release its resolution on or before April 19, the deadline given to them by the Angeles City Regional Trial Court.

More than 23 respondents, including Police Superintendent Rafael Dumlao, SPO4 Ricky Sta. Isabel, and some NBI officials, are facing kidnapping for ransom and homicide complaints filed by the PNP-AKG and the NBI for the abduction and killing of Jee last October 18. (SunStar Philippines)
