DOJ names Bucor OIC

THE Department of Justice (DOJ) has designated as officer-in-charge of the Bureau of Corrections (Bucor) its Administrative Division chief Rey Raagas.

In a Department Order released on Monday, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II said Raagas will perform the functions delegated to the Director General of the Bucor.

The order further said he will be entitled to receive the benefits given to an official leading the penal facilities in the country.

Aguirre's order designating Raagas as Bucor OIC came days after Bucor Director General Benjamin Delos Santos tendered his irrevocable resignation due to the resurgence of illegal drug trading at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is now probing the resurgence of the narco-trading in Bilibid allegedly involving the Special Action Force (SAF) contingents assigned to guard detainees at the said national penitentiary. (SunStar Philippines)
