Domalsin clinches 2nd place in Mr. Olympia

BLESSED with almost a perfect body, Baguio City muscleman Reynold Domalsin earned great respect from other nationalities when he clinched second place in the recently concluded 2015 Mr. Olympia Amateur Asia in Hongkong November 25.

In a competition where seamless muscular build is needed, the two-time and reigning Shawn Rhoden Classic-Philippines overall champion took the competition with great Cordilleran pride joining the podium in the men’s under 75kg weight class.

The 36-year-old bodybuilder just bought himself a ticket to advance in another International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) sanctioned competition, the 2016 Arnold Amateur International Championships in March.

“Second lang po tayo, we thought we already had the gold in our bag pero naging tagilid during the competition proper,” Domalsin told Sun.Star Baguio.

He was bested by Hongkong National Lee Lap Chi with his overall final score of 15 against Domalsin’s 30.

Chi was among the pride of Hongkong when it comes to bodybuilding competitions, his recent feat include the 2014 Arnold USA titles in the 70kg weight class.

“Unfortunately walang Pilipino na nakalusot sa men’s physique and women’s bikini. All divisions and categories were won by China or Hongkong,” he added.

The second generation muscleman, son of the late and former Baguio councilor and PCBF president Nick Sr. was trying to score one of the four professional cards given during the recent Mr. Olympia Amateur Asia.

“I guess this is not yet my time, although I hope to get another shot for a pro card soon,” Domalsin quipped.

Other Filipinos who ranked in the competition include 2013 Olympia Amateur and double Arnold Europe winner Ariel Guong (silver 80kg below), 2013 Olympia Amateur and 2014 Arnold Europe winner John Andrew Cifra (silver 100kg below), while in the distaff side Rowena Walters and Shiela Baniqued respectively ranked third and fourth in the women’s physique 13com category.

According to Domalsin, he is yet to confirm participation in the 2016 Arnold Amateur International Championships due to financial backlogs.
