THE Department of Tourism (DOT) has released the names of an initial 16 star-rated resorts and hotels in Western Visayas, according to the recent List of star-rated properties under the National Accommodation Standards for Hotels, Resorts and Apartment Hotels released by DOT.
Tourism Regional Director Helen Catalbas said that the higher the star rating, the higher is the level of service and facilities quality, facility condition, and environmental management.
There are different kinds of tourists but they always look for the same thing in their accommodation-comfort, safety and excellent service.
Of the Star-quality accommodations and establishments in the region, 10 are in Aklan, two in Capiz, two in Iloilo City, and two in Negros Occidental.
Star-ratings of more than 50 more hotels, resorts, and apartment hotels are coming out soon.
DOT said that accommodation standards have five levels ranging from one to five stars applicable to resorts, hotels and apartment hotels.
Western Visayas has 2 Five-star rated resorts namely the Shangri-La’s Boracay Resort and Spa and Discovery Shores Boracay, all located in the island of Boracay; 5 Four-star resorts namely 7Stones Boracay Suites, Asya Premier Suites, Henann Regency Resort and Spa, Henann Garden Resort, Henann Lagoon Resort, all in Boracay; 2 Three-star resorts namely Astoria Boracay and The Tides Hotel Boracay by Designer Hotels, all in Boracay; 2 Two-star resorts namely Patio Pacific Resort Boracay and Palmas del Mar Conference Resort Hotel in Negros Occidental, 2 Three-star Hotel namely Days Hotel Iloilo in Iloilo City and L’Fisher Chalet in Bacolod City, and 3 Two-star Hotel namely Hotel Veronica and Urban Manor Hotel in Capiz and Smallville21 Hotel in Iloilo City.
