THE regional tourism department is pushing for accreditation of establishments in Western Visayas to avail themselves of incentives and assure visitors and clients of safety in food, accommodation and transportation.
Department of Tourism (DOT) Regional Director Helen Catalbas said accreditation will assure tourists and visitors that these enterprises have complied with the minimum and progressive levels of operating quality and internationally-recognized standards for the operation and maintenance of their tourism facilities and services.
Catalbas added that accredited tourism establishments will have incentives, such as inclusion of company profile in DOT websites, subsidized human resource development seminars, endorsement to concerned agencies for ailment of incentives, and exemption from Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program or number–coding scheme.
Catalbas said that as of July 7, 2015, there are 125 DOT–accredited tourism–oriented and tourism–related establishments in Western Visayas. (LCP)
