DPWH ordered to assess damages of infra projects

FIRST district Representative Celso Lobregat has directed the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to conduct immediate assessment on the damaged bridge, flood controls and other nationally-funded infrastructures affected by the storm surge and flash flood in this city’s west coast.

The first congressional district covers the 37 villages in the west coast of this city.

Lobregat issued the order after he inspected the areas affected by the storm surge and flash flood that hit this city on Sunday spawned by the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).

“I already ordered DPWH to make an immediate assessment of the rip-rap and approach of the bridge (in the village of Patalon). It has to be reinforced and be repaired the soonest possible time because it’s the only access to (the villages of) Labuan and Limpapa,” Lobregat said.

Lobregat, being the chairperson of the House Committee on Public Works, want to ensure that the nationally-funded projects are properly monitored and rehabilitated in case of eventualities like the present inclement weather condition.

He also deployed two teams of Red Cross responders to attend to the needs of the displaced residents brought about by the storm surge.

Lobregat is also a governor of the Philippine Red Cross. (SunStar Philippines)
