Drivers and operators group demands P6 discount

THE United Negros Drivers and Operators Center (Undoc) is not asking for a fare increase, but rather a P6 discount for the average fuel consumer both for public utility vehicles and private vehicles.

Diego Malacad, secretary-general of Undoc, said they support the call of Pinagkaisang Samahan Ang Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (Piston), their mother organization, for the granting of discount.

“We do not want to put burden to everybody especially the students and people having no permanent income that’s why we didn’t file a fare hike petition,” he said.

Malacad pointed out that the P6 discount will only be for vehicles consuming 20 to 30 liters of fuel per day while those who consume more than 30 liters per day will only avail P6 for the first 30 liters of their consumption.

He added that they didn’t file a petition on their concerns related to the high prices of fuels with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Western Visayas because of the agency’s alleged inaction on their previous concerns.

“We would like to leave it to Piston because concerns are immediately addressed in the national level,” Malacad said.

The price of diesel is already more than P40 per liter while that of gasoline has already gone up to more than P50 per liter.
