'Drug dealer' nabbed for the second time

A SUSPECTED drug dealer never learned his lesson.

Ike Medora, 36, was arrested for the second time on Monday night, March 12, for the same offense.

The City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) nabbed Medora in a drug bust together with 19-year-old John Daniel Vestling along Mastersons Avenue, Cagayan de Oro City on

Police said they seized two sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, or “shabu” worth around P11,000 from Medora.

The suspect also allegedly yielded a caliber 45 gun and some bullets.

The target was Medora, but the anti-drug operatives took Vestling who happened to be with the former during the operation.

Authorities fired three warning shots after the suspect allegedly tried to retrieve his gun and refused to come out of the car.

Senior Inspector Maricris Mulat, CDEU chief, said Medora was imprisoned for 10 years at the city jail for drug charges, but was later acquitted after the police failed to prove his guilt.

Authorities said they will subject the suspect's gun to a ballistic test to check whether it has been used in illegal activities. The suspect failed to provide legal papers for holding the gun.

"Basin makakuha ta og lead kay ig-agaw ra baya nang droga sa ubang crime sama sa patay, tulis ug uban pa (We might get leads if we will subject the gun to a ballistic exam because drugs sometimes resulted in other crimes like murder and robbery)," Mulat said.

The CDEU chief said the suspect revealed initial information about his drug source in the city.

Mulat said the suspect is capable of disposing of more than P100,000 worth of illegal drugs per week, with the transactions occurring inside his car.
