DRUG enforcement officials said they have busted a drug trafficking group in Baguio City with the arrest of six of its members over the weekend.
Regional Director Juvenal Azurin of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency’s office in Cordillera said the group operates in the Benguet=Baguio area and sold drugs mainly to vegetable truck drivers.
Arrested were Howard Bugarin, Zaldy Veniegas Del Rio, Jay-Ar Pilaes Bautista, Al Malupa Bartolome, Saldy Garcia Fernandez, and a 21-year-old female residing at Alapang, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Recovered from the suspects were three plastic sachets containing methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu weighing 13.8421 grams, marijuana resin weighing 31.0079 grams, several drug paraphernalia, three weighing scales, and 30 9mm rounds.
Azurin said the truck drivers take shabu to keep them awake during long trips. (MEC)
