Drug suspect, ex-cop caught in Oro drug bust

A DISMISSED policeman from Maguindanao province and another drug suspect were arrested in a drug bust at Camella Homes, Barangay Balulang, Cagayan de Oro City, on Wednesday night, September 13.

The drug suspects were identified as ex-police officer 1 Zamxari Usman, said to be a high value target in the illegal drugs trade, and Peter Fabro alias Dodong.

Seized allegedly from their possession were nine sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu,” worth P5,500 and several drug paraphernalia.

Senior Inspector Ian Datiles, police station 7 chief, said they conducted a week-long surveillance against Fabro after an informant tipped off police regarding Fabrio’s supposed involvement in the illegal drug trade in the city.

Authorities discovered that the target is allegedly conspiring with Usman.

"Nalaman natin during sa surveillance na may kasama si Dodong na police at di natin alam sinong police ito at saan na-assign kaya vinalidate natin," Datiles said.

Datiles said the team found Usman supposedly in the act of using the suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia after they chased Fabro who ran inside his house during the buy bust.

He said the suspects did not resist arrest.

"Ang nabilhan natin si Dodong pero after nalaman na operatiba ang ka-transact tumakbo siya sa loob kaya hinabol natin. Nakita natin right there si Usman na may hawak na droga at paraphernalia,"Datiles said.

Datiles said they are still investigating the drug transactions and activities of Usman in the city.

The police station commander said they are hoping that the suspect would reveal more information and personalities involved in the drug trade in the city.

"Sa ngayon kinakausap pa natin siya baka may sasabihin pa siya kasi newly identified natin siya dito sa PRO-10," Datiles said.

Police said Usman was re-assigned to Maguindanao Provincial Police Office from Lanao del Sur Provincial Police Office but failed to report for duty.

He was booted out from police service for serious neglect of duty last February 9, pursuant to a special order issued by the Police Regional Office of Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao.

Suspects are detained at the Maharlika Detention Cell while the police is set to press drug charges against them on Friday, September 15.

"Kay Dodong is selling and possession at non bailable while kay Usman is possession at depende sa court kung maka-bail siya," Datiles said
