Drug suspect shot to death in Dumaguete City

A DRUG suspect was shot to death by two unidentified men on a motorcycle in front of Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital in Dumaguete City, on Saturday night, July 29.

Police identified the victim as Darwin Cabetingan, 42, of Barangay Cadawinonan.

Investigation showed that Cabetingan was selling goods outside the hospital when two men came to him.

Then two more men arrived and fired at him around 9 p.m. He succumbed to four gunshot wounds.

Police recovered from the scene four fired bullets of .45 caliber pistol.

According to his wife, the victim just got out of jail after he posted bail for drug charges, police records showed.

In another development, a government employee of Bais City in Negros Oriental died while his colleague was injured after they were shot by two unidentified men on a motorcycle at a newly-renovated satellite market in Barangay Hangyad, on Saturday night.

Police Officer 3 Antonio Abueva, investigator of Bais City Police Station, identified the fatality as Jerry Pipino, 47, of Barangay Cabanlutan.

Injured was Joel Candido, 45, of Barangay 2. Both were employees of the Civil Security Office in the city.

Police records showed that Pipino was talking with his colleagues Candido and Rebecco Saycon when the assailants fired at them at close range.

Pipino succumbed to two gunshot wounds while Candido was slightly hurt.

Abueva said they are looking at the possibility that the incident might be work-related.

Investigation is ongoing.
