Drunk man kills wife

A WOMAN was stabbed to death by her drunk husband at home in Sitio Odiong, Barangay Camandag in La Castellana, Negros Occidental on Tuesday night.

Police identified the fatality as Jenny Legaspi, 46.

Chief Inspector Irma Teoxon, town police chief, said the victim tried to pacify her husband Juanito Legaspi, 51, a laborer, when he came home drunk just before midnight.

The suspect kicked the door and challenged his wife to a fight. Armed with a kitchen knife, the suspect then stabbed her.

Teoxon said the couple’s 13-year-old daughter witnessed the crime, but was not able to call for help immediately because of fear after her father threatened her against telling anyone.

It was only in the morning when her father left that the girl was able to seek assistance from their neighbors.

Around 6 a.m., the victim’s body, with multiple stab wounds, was found sprawled on the floor near the kitchen.

Police recovered the 12-inch kitchen knife used by Legaspi.

Teoxon said the suspect was arrested Wednesday afternoon in a hot pursuit operation at the house of his relative in Barangay San Remigio, Moises Padilla town.

The minor was placed in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

A few months back, the victim hacked the suspect after they had a misunderstanding.

Man killed by brother

A man was hacked to death by his younger brother inside their house at Purok Nato, Barangay Canlandog, Murcia town Sunday night.

Senior Inspector Ronald Santillan, town police chief, identified the fatality as Roberto Esparas Jr., 44.

Santillan said both the victim and the suspect Joy Esparas, 29, were having a drinking session and talked about the sharing of their family-owned land.

A heated argument ensued between them and the victim hit the suspect with a glass.

The younger Esparas took a cane cutter and attacked his elder brother.
