DTI opens meat processing facility in Calumpit

MALOLOS CITY--The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) recently opened a P626,000 worth meat processing facility near the Calumpit Public Market.

"We thank DTI for this facility which would surely improve our famed Longganisang Calumpit particularly in ensuring its quality taste and size," Mayor Jesse De Jesus said.

For her part, DTI Provincial Director Zorina Aldana said the facility was funded under the Shared Service Facility (SSF) program of the agency.

"SSF is a strategy adopted to achieve the goal of the National Industry Cluster Capacity Enhancement Project which is to set up common production centers in order for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in priority industry clusters gain access to better technology and more sophisticated equipment thereby increasing their competitiveness, consequently affecting their contribution to the national economy," she explained.

During the occasion, Aldana disclosed that they would open soon a Negosyo Center in the town.

"Negosyo Centers seek to help start-up businesses, potential entrepreneurs, and existing SMEs," Aldana furthered.

Under the Republic Act 10644 otherwise known as the Go Negosyo Act, a Negosyo Center shall be established in each local government unit nationwide to support inclusive growth and economic development.

They provide business consultancy, capacity building, product design and development, monitoring, and other support services for SMEs. (CLJD/VFC-PIA 3)
