CEBUANO elite triathlete John Philip Dueñas will face off with the country’s formidable multi-sport stars in the Safeguard Active 5150 Triathlon on Sept.28 in Panglao, Bohol.
The 27-year-old of Danao City showed toughness and grit in the recently concluded Ironman 70.3 Philippines, where he placed second to Subic-based August Benedicto in the Filipino men’s elite division, eclipsing his third place finish in 2013.
Benedicto will also see action in the 5150 Triathlon. Aside from Benedicto, the 2013 Filipino elite champion Banjo Norte of Cagayan de Oro City is also set to race.
The triathletes will negotiate a standard distance of 1.5-kilometer swim, 40K bike, and 10K run. The Safeguard Active 5150 was previously staged at Subic Bay, and has been transferred to Bohol this year.
As of yesterday, other triathletes enlisted in the Filipino elite are Cebu-based Sherwin Managil, Frankin Echevarria, Neil Catiil, John Gilbuena, Juan Carlos Abad, Kristian Rhoss Herrera, Jorry Ycong, Parklane’s Emmanuel Comendador, and Mark Anthony Hosana.
The race also has the age group, professional, and relay categories.
