Dump truck crashes into house in Balamban; 7 injured

A TEN-WHEELER dump truck crashed into a house at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, on Transcentral Highway in Cansomoroy, Balamban, Cebu, injuring seven persons.

Investigation showed the vehicle, driven by Socrates Manabat Alcos, lost its brake while traveling downhill.

Alcos, 49, told the police he failed to control the truck.

The injured were Gemma Paran Ardillo, 58, owner of the house; her children Devina P. Pardillo, 27; Jocelyn Ardillo Pamat, 24; Jocelyn's son Jaylord A. Pamat, 2; and Devina's son Reymond Ardillo, 7.

Alcos and his helper Eduardo S. Mercado suffered minor injuries.

They were brought to Balamban District Hospital, but they were transferred to a hospital in Cebu City.

Alcos, however, was detained. He will possibly face reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries if he cannot reach an agreement with the family. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
