A MALE college student died after he was ran over by a dump truck near a convenience store at Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City Monday afternoon.
Killed was Dennis Destor Jr., 23, of Barangay Taculing.
Senior Inspector Ramel Sarona, head of Police Station 7, said Destor was on his way to his school at 1:30 p.m. when he figured in an accident.
Sarona said Destor was driving a motorcycle and was tailing a dump truck driven by Joer Navarro, 33, of La Castellana town.
The victim attempted to overtake the dump truck.
The truck was on its way to Barangay Handumanan after delivering sand in the village.
Destor was wearing a helmet, but he succumbed to head injuries.
Navarro was detained at the station.
