Dutch, 4 others caught in possession of loose firearms

(UPDATED) -- Five people, including a Dutch national, were arrested under the virtue of five search warrants in San Francisco, Camotes last Wednesday morning.

Operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Central Visayas caught Dutch national Niklaas Vondeling who was with his common-law wife, Maria Liza Fernandez, with a shotgun, two caliber .45 pistol and a 9mm with an expired license. Fernandez was not among the arrested.

Also caught were Allan Otadoy, Hanzel Bensig and Jimmy Ibot who all yielded caliber .45 pistols.

The sixth person is yet to be identified as of Thursday.

The CIDG-Central Visayas launched the operations at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the search warrant issued by Judge Antonio Marigomen of the Regional Trial Court in Bogo City.

They will be facing charges for the violation of RA 10591 or the possession of illegal firearms. (JOB/SunStar Cebu)
