Duterte announces provision of P10,000 for Yolanda victims

IT’S an early Christmas gift from no less than the President of the Republic as he announced the provision of P10,000 coming from two government departments.

President Rodrigo Duterte was the guest during the 3rd year commemoration of Yolanda victims in a pubic cemetery in Tacloban City. The President late in his speech publicly announced the provision of financial assistance in the amount of P5,000 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

The announcement on the provision of P5,000 to Yolanda victims was relayed to him by DSWD Secretary Judy Taguiwalo. The announcement to the gathered public composed mostly of kin of Yolanda victims who purposely attended the event at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Barangay Basper, Tacloban City just to glimpse and wait for any positive announcement from President Duterte.

Another additional positive announcement for the Yolanda victims after the announcement of the P5,000 DSWD financial assistance was the provision of another P5,000 from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

The P5,000 from DTI as relayed to him by DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez is intended as livelihood assistance for the Yolanda victims.

The President also ordered the National Housing Authority, Local Water Utilities Administration, and the Department of Public Works and Highways to fast track the implementation of projects intended for the victims of Yolanda which until now since three years had passed have not been delivered to the victims.

The President’s stern warning to the three National Government agencies involved in the implementation of infrastructure projects intended for the Yolanda victims caused uproar and jubilation to the public. (PIA)
