JOSELITO Macrohon, the village chief of San Roque, this city has been appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte to the position of City Councilor in the first district of Zamboanga City.

Macrohon has replaced Charlie Mariano, who stepped down from office in November 2017 after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) unseated him due to conviction by the Supreme Court for violation of the Bouncing Cheque Law.

Macrohon’s appointment was signed by the President on February 13.

Macrohon ran for councilor in the first district under the local chapter of the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP) during the 2016 elections and landed number nine.

There are only eight council seats in each of the two districts of this city. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
