LAWYER Salvador Panelo said on Wednesday his clients are ready to face any complaint should the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) proceed on filing one.
Panelo is the counsel of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and the Davao City policemen in the event CHR files a case against them for the alleged murder of the three kidnappers of Sally Chua, 51, a businesswoman from Del Monte, Quezon City.
Panelo left Davao City on Wednesday but said he will be back next month for the celebration of the Kadayawan Festival.
"Magdemanda sila, then we will face it in court," Panelo said.
"She does not know what she's talking about. She is not a lawyer. She was not present at the place of the crime then if she has a case, then file a case," he said, referring to CHR chair Etta Rosales.
The counsel reiterated that the reaction of Rosales while viewing the video was "cinematic."
Panelo said he advised his clients, including Duterte, not to say anything and invoke their constitutional rights to remain silent.
Duterte on Monday also issued a gag order on all policemen involved in the shootout incident.
Panelo insisted there was no illegal act committed by the police, who only came to rescue the victim and follow the shoot-to-kill order of Duterte since the kidnappers were armed and dangerous.
He said even the people of the nation applauded what the police did. The support can be seen and felt even in the social networking sites, he added.
"Ang dalawa lang naman ang nagrereact eh, CHR chair Rosales and presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte," Panelo said.
Valte earlier said the shoot-to-kill order of the mayor was "illegal."
