Duterte tells corporate taxpayers: 'Pay your taxes'

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte on Monday told the corporate taxpayer to pay the right taxes.

Duterte made the call at the launching of the Bureau of Internal Revenue's tax campaign for 2017 held at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.

"It's good that we meet here. Thank you all for sharing this with us and [sending an] invitation... On taxes, just pay correctly," Duterte said before the corporate taxpayers invited at the event.

"This I promise you: there will be no corruption. It behooves upon you to stop it," he added.

In a bid to get rid of corruption, Duterte called on the individuals working in the government to be "assertive" against erring public employees.

Should there be someone who will ask to "magic" their taxes, the President said they could either "slap them on their face or curse them."

"You have just to be assertive. If you can assert against [erring] people in government, we're okay," Duterte said. (SunStar Philippines)
